ABOUT ANDREW WILCOX

Lawyer. Consultant. Storyteller.

Two decades at the intersection of law, business performance, and the human stories that make both matter.

PRACTICE & PHILOSOPHY

Andrew Wilcox is a lawyer, author, and entrepreneur who has spent more than twenty years working at the highest levels of the legal industry. As founder and owner of Wilcox and Hackett, LLC, he leads a consulting firm specializing in legal talent search, performance measurement, client development, and strategic storytelling — serving clients from boutique practices to firms in the AM Law Top 5.

His work with attorneys is both rigorous and human. Andrew helps law firms identify and recruit top shareholder and associate talent, guides firms through mergers from first conversation to integration, and builds measurable business development programs that move partners and associates from passive practitioners to confident rainmakers. He has trained more than 3,000 professionals across the legal and corporate worlds — including engagements with IBM, Thomson West, Rockwell Automation, Business Objects, and Aspen Tech.

"The best lawyers already know how to think. What I do is help them learn how to connect — with clients, with colleagues, and with the story only they can tell."

MENTAL HEALTH & MINDFULNESS

Andrew's consulting work extends beyond revenue metrics into the personal wellbeing of the attorneys he serves. He leads hiking retreats designed specifically for lawyers — immersive experiences that use movement, wilderness, and intentional reflection as tools for stress resilience, professional renewal, and deeper self-awareness. These retreats are built on a foundation of mindfulness practice and personal storytelling, giving participants the space — often rare in legal culture — to slow down, examine their own narratives, and reconnect with why they chose this demanding profession.

This work is part of a broader commitment to mental health initiatives within the legal community, addressing the well-documented pressures of attorney burnout and offering a counterbalance grounded in both clinical insight and lived experience.

BACKGROUND

Andrew's foundation in business development began in 1996 as a sales representative for a Fortune 500 company, ultimately rising to Senior Sales Director for the Southeast — where the process he implemented grew regional sales by an average of 57% per year for three consecutive years. At Thomson West, he earned back-to-back President's Club recognition as the only small market manager in the program.

A double graduate of Florida State University (B.S. in Marketing, minor in International Business), Andrew was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and worked his way through college repositioning boats and working for professional sports teams — early experiences that forged a deep connection to the sea, travel, and the kind of storytelling that only comes from real life.

BEYOND THE OFFICE

Andrew is the author of three books, all available on Audible, and a frequent guest on podcasts exploring law, mindfulness, storytelling, and adventure. He speaks aboard major cruise lines — including Celebrity Cruises' Beyond the Podium series and Royal Caribbean — delivering enrichment talks on maritime history, spycraft, genealogy, law, culture, and the stories hidden inside everyday places.

An avid adventurer and hiker, Andrew has walked stretches of both the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails and summited the highest point in most of the lower 48 states. With his wife and two daughters, he has visited all 50 state capitols, every presidential library, all major national parks, and every Major League Baseball stadium — a family project that is, at heart, one long exercise in finding the story in every place.
